Never thought I'd say it, but golly-gee-wow this Austin, TX house that I spotted on
Houzz the other day has some beautiful wood paneling!
The paneling is "shiplap" to be exact. Somehow, when compared to dated wood paneling, turning the boards horizontally and painting them a fresh and modern white makes them sing.
This stained shiplap that creates a feature wall in the kitchen is original to the bungalow. Oh how wonderful to tear down walls and see that staring you in the face! (that is, if you have wonderful vision like the
Clayton&Little Architects and homeowners did...)
Isn't it a gorgeous home? I'm ready to move in with all that natural light, those character-filled archways, and that jaw-dropping cool kitchen! You can see more pictures of the beautiful abode {
here}. It's got some amazing features throughout, so do check it out.
What do you think of this sort of wood paneling? Wood you do it?!? (ha, couldn't help but throw that pun in there...)
I LOVE painted paneling like that! In my "someday" lake house, all the walls will be like that. I'm even diggin' the unpainted feature wall. Beats the heck out of the faux wood paneling I ripped off the walls when I first moved into this house. Good lord that stuff was nasty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I've never painted on a wood panel before, but the effect is gorgeous. I want to build my own canvases, but I definitely need something better than the sad excuse for the saw that I currently have.
ReplyDeleteVery nice tips for using the wood paneling. It make your house bright and elegant. I want to do it but I can't because my house doesn't have many spaces.
ReplyDeleteWhat you do is great, I have tried with my room. it was horrible :(
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so nice and clean! I like the white wood walls. It's really good looking.
ReplyDeleteYour home is really beautiful and tidy. I will try with my house. Thanks for sharing!
