We came across a sad looking desk that we found just a few miles from us. This one was in pretty bad shape...chipped paint, missing hardware, dust all over...but it's hard to say no to a solid wood and marble-topped desk with a lot of potential, right??? We liked that it could function as a desk, an entry table/side table, or even a TV stand. It can perform lots of functions, which you need in a piece of furniture if you move as often as we do!
Here is the before picture - needin' lots of love:
And, here is the gem of a find after some dusting, sanding, priming, painting, and new hardware:
The marble-tiled top was kind of a cool touch - something we wouldn't have thought of - so we're glad it came that way. It's good for being a really durable surface to set glasses on, or write on.
Here is a close-up of the drawer pulls and the glaze technique we did on the recessed portions of the legs:

This project took just a few hours. It's amazing what you can do with a sander, some spray paint, and new hardware. Makes me want to find something else to fix up... -Kristen
I am so blessed to now own this treasure, crafted with the love of a sister in Christ, and I will treasure it forever! Thank you for all the love you put into this beautiful piece, now I'm wishing for the art you have hanging this lovely piece of furniture. It's had so much love put into, I feel like I should name it. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the table. I also love the clock on top of it. You have a great eye for seeing the potential in a piece. Well done! ~Pepper
